Occasionally, a fluke happens. We'll draw something, submit it, and it either does well or does not. And, as time passes and our skills vastly improve, that old relic is still popular, even MORE popular than our current work, hence the fluke!

In this journal, I want my watchers to share with me and everyone those pictures you've submitted (preferably old ones) that represent the worst art you've made, or the ones that aren't your personal favorites, but these pictures are still somehow popular and still get regular views, comments and faves, despite your not promoting or thumb sharing them.

Along with your links to those pictures, post here in this journal your musings or frustrations over that picture(s). If you're not at all bothered by it, then you don't have to post, but I'd like some good entertainment, so a rant or two is preferable if you're able to muster one.

Anyways, I'll start us off with 2 of mine.



This is an old sketch from back in 2005 of Count Dracula. Now, I still like it, and it's cute and all that, but I just know, I JUST KNOW that the only reason this one is the MOST faved in ALL my gallery is because it's a vampire. Simple as that. There's just a bunch of vampire lovers, goths, emos and similar folks running around who have a fetish for this sort of thing. Just look at the names and avatars of some of the people who have faved it. I'm not judging their tastes, simply stating what has to be a statistical fact of why this is the most faved!

While I'm happy it does well, pictures like this are the ones that should have the most faves, not a sketch of a vampire. Something I poured my talent into, not something I did in no time at all! XD

Now this one is definitely more understandable than Dracula. It's just a given that any time you draw a sexy woman practically naked, no matter how crappy a job you did, it's going to get more attention than it will have ever deserved. The only thing I can think to explain why this one has the most views out of all my pictures, is that there's enough people out there, perhaps too many (or too few depending on how you look at it) that have some mixture of a japanese woman, samurai, bathing, bodywrap, older sister Love Hina fetish. Or....failing that, they just fave because it's a woman taking a bath and it's sensual.

Regardless, this is the weakest example I can currently provide you of my anatomy skills at the time. I can go over every fault in this picture, but I won't. Suffice to say it doesn't feel exactly great that the most viewed picture in my gallery is one of the crappiest.

I've joked a couple of times and said maybe I should draw this picture again with my current skills to see what would happen. Why do I have this morbid feeling that this one would still do better than the newer version? Nevermind the fact these two pictures are old and therefore have had years to accumulate views and faves. That's not why they're the most popular. They're the most popular in faves and views because for whatever reason my newer stuff isn't doing any better than these two, which is sad beyond measure.

I feel as though until I draw something that gets more views and/or more faves than these two, I'll always have this embarrassment floating over me, like a specter! I don't think about this often, but whenever I go into the fanart folder, I see these two and it makes me think "WTF! Why isn't my best stuff doing this good?"

It is somewhat disheartening, but I'm able to laugh at it and take it for what it is. If your worst is someone else's best, then does that mean your garbage is someone else's treasure? How should I look at this anomaly?

I feel a vlog rant brewing...XD
