"Leave this to us!"- Lieutentant Rukia Kuchiki & Sode no Shirayuki

My entry for this month's contest at

EDIT: I WON 1ST PLACE! ^___^

The theme was Rukia Kuchiki and her zanpakuto Sode no Shirayuki.

Rather than displaying a sparkly, snowy, regal effect that Rukia's sword dances usually have, I decided to go with a blade of fiery ice effect by having the energy wrapping around the blade and pulsating with mist. I wanted Sode no Shirayuki to have a more fierce and powerful looking release, to help reflect Rukia's strength, determination, and will power.

I like your painting style here! It's cool that you can make your work look so smooth and seemless. The glow on the sash at the end of the sword is a bit distracting but, I do really like the contrast of black and white here.

OMG! Sode no Shirayuki looks amazing here! So intricate and beautifully deatailed! <3 And I love how strong Rukia looks here. She is such a strong a character in the anime and it is good to see you portray that. And though it is a small detail I love the way you drew her badge! ^^

To be honest, I don't know anything about Sode no Shirayuki, the new badge, etc, other than the information I've garnered offhand from others or by looking at reference pictures. I had the option to draw traditional Rukia, before the promotion, before the person in her sword is revealed, etc, but I had already drawn so many pictures of traditional Rukia, that I wanted to draw the updated version, with newer uniform and hair.

Well, I think you did a great job! Though I did stop reading the manga after Deicide. I might come back to it in the future when it is all done. I still appreciate beautiful pictures of Rukia though!

I love the shading and the way you used the colors, despite the number of colors being sparse. I also like how you did the glow effects on the sword and ribbon (that is a ribbon right? I haven't watched much Bleach xD).
